Electric Service Lineman

The City of Sylvania is accepting applications for the position of Electrical Service Lineman. The Lineman position performs all overhead electrical work involved in the construction, maintenance and extension of power, lighting and signal systems to include electrical hot line work on poles and in high places, following written and oral instructions. They handle customer services, line outages, and emergency problems as they arise. The applicant must have completed a satisfactory apprenticeship as a Lineman Apprentice in the erection, maintenance and repair of overhead electrical line systems, supplemented by some vocational training preferably in electricity, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or GED and a valid State of Georgia CDL Class H motor vehicle operator’s license, extensive experience in construction, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, completion of a course in an electrical school and supervisory experience. Candidates with a combination of relevant knowledge, training and experience will be considered. Position requires new employee and random drug testing.
